I guess you're supposed to being seeing through the Warden's eyes and the areas in his glasses are what he sees when he looks at Alice and the area outside his glasses is reality.

Idk. I'm not good at explaining my concepts xD Hopefully you'll just be able to look at it and get what's going on.
